I am a human rights lawyer, specialized in human rights violations in the Middle East, and a Master of Contemporary Middle Eastern Studies, specializing in Saudi Arabia.
For more than ten years, I used to work on asylum and refugee relations, primarily with refugee flows from the Middle East, as well as cooperating with UNHCR with so-called quota/resettlement of refugees from, among others, Iraq, Iran and Syria. I have been project manager on capacity building EU projects in Turkey and the Balkan. I have been a policy advisor on migration and refugees issues for the Danish government. As a consultant I work specifically with analysis and commentaries on the politics of the Middle East, of the power games that defines the region, and the economic, religious and ethnic problems the region is often facing. I am a regular contributor the Danish online media Point of View International
I am the founder and CEO of my consultancy, Yasmin Abdel-Hak
I give lectures on global citizenship, human rights, civic empowerment, female agency in the Middle East and critical thinking to school classes and host study clubs on politics of the Middle East
